I have an admission: Dustin & Melinda surprised me. Not that I didn’t think that they were very nice people, because that came through clearly within the first 5 minutes into our first video chat. Not that I didn’t think that their wedding was going to be awesome, because from our conversations I could tell they were being very thoughtful about pretty much everything. But they definitely surprised me in how much their wedding reminded me on what I truly love about shooting wedding: the chance to photograph 2 people who are making a commitment to each other, surrounded by their family and friends. From how laid back and kind Dustin and Melinda was, even to threat of impending storm right before the ceremony, to the way Dustin held his mother’s hand during the first dance (I’m not crying, you’re crying) – I truly enjoyed getting to know these two and their families. To top it all off, it was the first time I got a mention in the best man’s speech. Can’t beat that.

Special thanks to my friend Rob for coming down and shooting this wedding with me!
