Elma & Tets | Wedding in Los Angeles

Almost exactly a year ago we found ourselves in Southern California. We got to see our family, visit where we got married and meet Elma and Tets for their engagement session. Aside from all the fun of heading back to California, we couldn’t have been more excited to shoot for these two. Since we last reported, they started an AWESOME letterpress business and we knew that they’d have their hand in all the little details of the wedding. There were so many cool things to see, not to mention the great venue. It was the kind of day that makes you want to move. Then again, anywhere that’s sunny and warm makes us want to move. What a great wedding! We loved this one…

Megan & Ryan | Cork Factory Hotel

With double wedding weekends, it always helps when both are equally awesome. They were.

Saturday we travelled the opposite direction, towards Lancaster and shot at one of our favorite new places, the Cork Factory. The weather couldn’t have been nicer (I wanted to just stand in the sun all day) and the people couldn’t have been better… Megan and Ryan have been to a few weddings of ours by now. So this was like a big family reunion for us. We saw lots of old clients (that feel like family) and even a few crazy uncles (I’m looking at you Matt). Here’s a few of our favorites…

One of the absolute best things to see is people doing things there own way. And whether it was Cynthia’s huge red boots, their extremely realistic self-portrait figurine or any number of small details, we loved seeing Cynthia and Josh do it their way. It was such a fun day at Huntingdon Valley with them. The rain held off again (if I had a nickel) and the Phillies won. A day pretty much filled with awesome. Enjoy…

Alisha & Rob | wedding on Long Beach Island

Aside from the overwhelming joy of not dealing with rain, there’s a few other things that made Saturday awesome. It had been a while since we had shot a beach wedding (and that was in February), so we loved getting out to LBI to shoot. It’s really a beautiful place and absolutely nothing beats the laid-back nature of a beach wedding. Second, we knew Alisha and Rob would be cool and up for anything! After all, we tell stories about them all the time. They endured the coldest engagement session imaginable. My bones still hurt after that one. We’re so glad that God gave them a beautiful day for this… they certainly deserved it!

We’ve had a few slow-ish blogging weeks with all the cancellations due to weather, but we’re coming back strong this week. Check back often for lots of new sessions!

Kari & Greg | A Hurricane Irene Wedding

As Saturday was approaching, we kept telling ourselves that we were going to have a weekend that no one would soon forget. Day after day it was looking more and more like Hurricane Irene was going to bear down on Southern Delaware right at prime time on Saturday. Kari and Greg handled it like champs! They barely said a word about the rough situation and just soaked it all in (no pun intended). It was pretty incredible to watch, both inside and outside. The roads were almost impassible and the electricity was intermittent, but the show went on.

We got out of there just in time. We drove over a bridge that closed at 8 at 7:58 and eventually made it home safe. It was a day we won’t forget anytime soon. Kari and Greg, you guys were the perfect people to experience a day like that with. Your calmness and joy really shined despite the circumstances. Thanks for being so great!

I don’t think I could like a photo any more than I like this one.

Wendi & Shane’s small wedding in Downingtown

This past weekend we had a priveledge that we haven’t had in about 2 years. We got to shoot a VERY small wedding. We feel really honored when there’s only 13 people at the entire event and we’re two of them! Part of what made it such a joy is that Wendi & Shane went to our favorite restaurant for dinner afterwards. Good choice!

Anyway, Wendi & Shane had a really touching ceremony. They wrote it themselves, had Wendi’s daughter Emma with them for the whole thing and Shane even said vows to her. Coming from a dude, I can say that it was really cool. There were only two dry eyes between us (guess who?). Here’s some shots from our short time with Wendi and Shane…

Baywood Greens Wedding | Stacy & Mike

Every couple of months, Amy and I sit back and ask each other what some of our best experiences have been shooting weddings. It’s so funny how we pick these things. Usually are favorite experiences have less to do with the photos and more to do with the people we get to work with. Every once in a while, we get to work for folks who just seem to go above and beyond to treat us so well and make sure we have a great time. This was that wedding. A HUGE thank you to Stacy and Mike for really giving us a wonderful weekend and experience. We got to meet and see so many wonderful people and really had a great weekend in ‘the land of no snow’ known as Delaware.

The ceremony was in Rehoboth Beach and the reception was at Baywood Greens, quickly becoming one of our favorite places! Enjoy!…

Katie & Bryan at the Inner Harbor

We had the pleasure of going to the Inner Harbor to shoot for Katie and Bryan. These photos are heavily influenced by the 10 pounds (at least) of Red Velvet Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory that was sitting in my stomach at the time… So thanks to the red velvet for the extra inspiration (fat).

Katie and Bryan came down from New Hampshire for the long weekend to one of their favorite places and we were able to walk around town a bit. Inner Harbor is a perfect place for these types of things… and we got a beautiful sunset. Enjoy!…

Jess & Kevin’s Downingtown Wedding

We could get used to this. Sunday completed a pretty amazing weekend for a number of reasons. Obviously, the weather was great and the people were great, but we got to shoot a wedding about 4 minutes from our house, watch Cole Hamels do a first dance, then watch him throw a shutout in Cincinnati like an hour later. That guy is incredible!

Jess and Kevin got married at the Downingtown Country Club, had their engagement photos at the Art Museum, and will forever be remembered for the bridal party dance party during cocktail hour that could be heard from space.

Dena & Mark in MOUNT JOY!!

It’s return-to-your-roots-day here on the blog. This weekend, we were in my home town, Mount Joy, PA to shoot for Dena and Mark. It felt a little weird to be honest. The reception was at a place I grew up going to (The Gathering Place), and where I acquired my unhealthy crush on hamloaf. Yes, that’s right… there’s something called hamloaf. And it’s good.

Lots of fantastic people at this wedding. Also, Mark’s brother Patrick needs to teach a class on best man’s speeches. He’s 16 and probably gave the best speech we’ve heard this year. Lesson to all the best men out there: Don’t drink too much, Be a little funny, and be genuine and kind. Good job Patrick!
