Lauren & Matt in their new home

When we meet with our clients, we almost always tell them that we want them to choose where to have their engagement session. It’s much more fun for everyone that way. We like doing new and different things and we really like when things are personal for the people we’re shooting for… which is why we’ve been excited to shoot for Lauren and Matt for a really long time. When we first met (well over a year ago) they mentioned that their plan was to buy a house and wanted to shoot in the house while it was still empty. Such a cool idea. And it turned out to be a ton of fun, mostly because we didn’t really have to go outside in the cold at all! Here’s a few of our favorites…

Meg & Andrew at Tyler State Park

It was quite a beautiful week. We were excited to see the bright blue skies, wear shorts, play golf, and all the things we love. We love warm weather and everything it brings, just like most people… except Meg. She LOVES winter. It’s pretty weird. So we’re happy for her and Andrew. The next few months will see their wedding, a great vacation and many other cold-related things (us freezing for one). So here’s Meg and Andrew on a nice warm day… Wedding photos will follow very soon and will be much colder, lucky for Meg.

Carolyn & Chris | Engagement at Winterthur

Last week we dodged the rain (by about 2 minutes) and shot at the beautiful Winterthur Museum and Gardens in Delaware. Carolyn and Chris are getting married there next year and it’s an awfully beautiful spot in the fall. Not to mention how easy it was shooting for them. Carolyn and Chris have to try to manage getting through life while being both incredibly smart and incredibly nice… It must be tough :)

It’s the last post from a crazy week! We haven’t gone 5 for 5 in quite a long time (kind of like the Phillies)..

This week we were in Hibernia Park with Ashley and Justin. We loved shooting this session (that seems to be a theme lately). There’s not much to complain about when you have great light and really fun people to be around. These guys are getting married next year, which seems like a long time for us to go without hanging out with them. I guess that’s a good thing…

Emma & Frank | Engagement at Haverford College

We met Emma and Frank at Haverford, where they got engaged and walked around the trail where they spend lots of time taking walks and playing with their dog. It was a gorgeous night…

Lauren & Austin in Philadelphia

Lauren and Austin are imports from Iowa, living here in the Northeast for a few years. We got to shoot in and around the city with them on Tuesday. After about a month of postponements and about 2000 radar checks, we squeezed in a few hours without rain… woohoo! We had a lot of fun with these two, sent them to our favorite place for guacamole and discovered a few areas of the city that we would have rather not seen (well, smelled)… Good times!

Amelia & Chris in Philadelphia

Last night we met Amelia and Chris in Philadelphia. It was a cloudy day. We were shooting around town for a while and I was setting up a shot. Amy looked up and said ‘look at that’. All of the sudden there was a bright red sunset and we were running for the top of the parking garage. We made it up in time (you’ll see those below). A sunset like that is pretty hard to top… until you see a garage door with a batman logo on it.

One of the first questions when we arrived on Wednesday: “How do you guys feel about trespassing?” You can guess how that went. We spent the evening around the beach in Jersey shooting for Jo and Tyler. We can’t wait for their wedding next year at one of our favorite local spots. We started out at a baseball field to get a save the date photo for them (we’re making baseball card postcards!) then headed to the water. We had such a great time with these guys… which brings me to a very important point that we covered while shooting: If we’ve shot for you in the past, we should probably hang out with you again. Restaurants are calling… let’s do this!

Picking out our favorite sessions when people ask is sort of like picking a tattoo. You want to do slowly and with the perspective of time. So without preemptively jinxing it, I’ll just say that this one is in the running…

Brian and Danielle wanted to do their engagement shoot in a kitchen. Sounds pretty cool in itself. But having two very happy people doesn’t hurt either. One of the first things we tell people when choosing engagement sessions is not to worry about the places where they think engagement sessions should be and just pick something fun. We’re so glad these guys were flexible too. On the way to the house, Amy spotted a broken down train on the side of the road that we went to after the kitchen. Hope you enjoy these as much as we do!
