Danielle & Greg at Leola Village

One of the cool parts about working with the same person (in this case, my wife Amy) all the time is that we're able to split up, see different things and capture a lot more. So, it's always kind of cool when we get home to see what we each got throughout the day. We both feel like we saw everything, then we'll see something great that the other person got when we weren't even there. It's a nice surprise. Well as I was getting this post ready, I was blown away. Amy kicked major tail this wedding. That's not unusual for her of course, but it needed to be mentioned :)

Danielle and Greg were wonderful to shoot the first time around and even better the second time. We were at Leola Village, which has some of the best rooms around and had just a wonderful day with everyone. Hope you enjoy!...

Megan & Ryan in Millersville

This week we had the pleasure of heading to Lancaster to shoot for Megan and Ryan at Millersville. We love these guys and can't wait to shoot for them more this fall. We saw them at Stacy and Mike's wedding a few months ago when Megan tore up the entire dance floor. Should make for some good times. This week, we even got to trespass for a while... I'm just not going to say where...

  1. I stumbled across this site while researching new websites. Wow! First the website and blog… OMG it’s cool! I could go on and on about it but I’ve already done that with about 50 phone calls to my friends to have them check it out! Next the content… You have a really cool and unique style. Love the images and how you really seem to draw out the unique qualities of the couple. Really, Really Great work! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Gorgeous shots! They sure had fun too!

Anita and Brian at the Cork Factory Hotel

Somewhere around Sunday afternoon, we realized how lucky we were with the two weddings we shot this weekend. The first one, we were actually booked for the wedding BEFORE Jess and Derrick were even engaged! For Anita & Brian, we were booked about .2 seconds after they got engaged. We were fully booked way back when, but Anita called right after a cancellation and we were able to work it out.... and we're so happy we did!

Anita and Brian's engagement session probably provided as many shots in our portfolio as any engagement session we've done. We were awfully excited for the wedding. Plus, we were excited to see the BEAUTIFUL Cork Factory Hotel for the first time. Then, last minute, we found out that our friends at GMElliott (who did our Promo Video) were going to be there too! Along with the venue, the people, the schedule, ect... this was pretty much an ideal wedding for us. Just a ton of fun.

It was about 2:30 pm when I realized that we shot all the 'formals' from both weekend weddings in alleys...haha. There's nothing better than when people give you free reign to be weird... :)

Jessica and Derrick in Ephrata

There's nothing better than showing up to a wedding and having 'people'. We're lucky enough to get to work with so many people that we now consider friends. Showing up to a new wedding and having a bunch of them there is so fun for us... mostly because we know we have the freedom to do whatever we think looks best. Jess and Derrick said as much, so we shot most of their photos in places where you'd most likely never even go. That's our kind of day.

Thanks Jess and Derrick for being so easy and fun to work with. Thanks to all our friends who continue to tell folks about us and amaze us with their, well, friendship! If you missed Jess and Derrick's picnic-y engagement session, check it out...

Stephanie & Dave’s Wedding

Friday, we returned to the place of one of our favorite weddings, Lauxmont Farms in Wrightsville to shoot for Steph and Dave. These two both served the country, then served it up on the dance floor (thanks, I'll be here all week)... You probably remember these faces as we shot for them just a couple of weeks ago down in D.C.

I usually write more here, but we're off to meet our brand new niece!!!! Congrats to Steph and Dave, here's a few of our favorite shots. If you like them, Steph and Dave would love to hear your comments below :)....

Brittany & David | Wedding in Lancaster

On Friday, I was in Lancaster on another gorgeous November day. Brittany & David got married at Riverdale Manor, somewhere that I'm becoming quite familiar with. It was a phenomenal day in every way possible. Great weather, great clients, great location. Just one of those days that makes you want to shoot forever. These guys did us TONS of favors, including seeing each other before the wedding, giving us lots of time for portraits and being willing to do whatever we wanted.

With that said, I was giving the pleasure of shooting this wedding with my good friend Sam Hassas from San Jose. Sam and I have developed a good friendship over the last year or so and if it weren't for about 3,000 miles, we'd probably just go in business together. Anyway, although it was my wedding, we shot this wedding sort of as co-photographers, to get the most and best work for B&D. Make sure to check out his take on the wedding HERE. Enjoy...

Sam's shots...

Their first look. Brittany requested the shot of her falling down the stairs, but this one seemed better to me :)...

I didn't want to use any of Sam's set up shots, but this was was just TOO good...

My favorite...

The next few, Sam shot the guys, I shot the girls...

    Great shots Thoff (and Shassas).
I think you should consider a move to San Jose, if only to make the dream a reality. Couldn’t go wrong with a Hoffer/Hassas Partnership (or Hassas/Hoffer).

  2. FANTASTIC as always. Sometimes I hate dropping by your blog! :-)

Also, the tuxes that the guys wore are freaking awesome! Very classy.

  3. I second the praise of the tux selection… just amazing. I couldn’t stop looking at the details.

    Excellent parody as well.

  4. Always a pleasure my friend. :)

  5. Nicole

These pictures made me even more excited for our big day. You did an excellent job again. I love the tree shots and the sparkler shot (especially since it will be 4th of July time). I actually got chills as I scrolled down and saw that shot of the venue. :) Great Job!

  6. mike diamond

great pictures, the one of the david standing on the porch and brit standing off the porch, it was taken in lancaster, was great. great job…great wedding….

  7. Natalie

My sister was suppose to be one of Brittany’s brides maids, but couldn’t due to the fact that she is in Spain. So she was just thrilled over the pictures, but a little envious that she couldn’t be there.

  8. Tracy

Beautiful pictures, great artistic quality! Thanks for capturing these memory making moments for my daughter..

  9. Colleen

My daughter was the flower girl in Brittany and David’s wedding. These pictures are amazing! They look like ads in a magazine! Great job!

Emil + Jason | Lancaster Wedding

On Saturday, we were in Lancaster at the Leola Village Inn and Suites. First of all, I love that place. We'll be going back in a few weeks. It was without a doubt one of the most beautiful ceremony and reception venues that I've shot at.

Now, if you'll excuse me for a minute, I'm going to talk about some of my favorite clients we've ever had. Emil & Jason are quite simply awesome people. Besides the obvious fact that they chose me (which alone makes them awesome), they were some of the most fun/easygoing/trusting people that we've shot for. From day one, Emil has been outspoken with her friends, on online forums and on this blog with spreading the word about my work. I don't think that many people realize just what a difference that makes for a business. So, strictly from a business perspective, Emil and Jason, I owe you a HUGE thank you for everything you've done in your excitement. Please know that I've been just as excited to shoot your wedding and am so grateful that I've had you as clients.

So, with that said, E+J also made a lot of decisions that made our job easy and (hopefully) made their photos better. I'm going to use them as a quick case study in case any future clients are interested... Here's some things they did:
1. Gave us lots of time for individual and group portraits. This makes a big difference in finding interesting spots and trying some fun things.
2. Saw each other before the wedding. While I recommend this to every couple, this is a perfect example of how it really gave us the best opportunity for portraits and relieved some of the stress (Jason even power-napped at one point).
3. Cared about the details. Emil put a ton of effort into all the little things that really helped make the venue even more beautiful and put her touch on everything, while at the same time being laid back with the bridal party so they could have fun too.
4. Had fun. It was their wedding day after all, why stress out?

So, now that I've typed entirely too much, here's some photos. Enjoy!!...

Their first look at each other...

A good example of having extra time and extra options. Here's our makeshift photo booth...
