Kari & Greg | A Hurricane Irene Wedding

As Saturday was approaching, we kept telling ourselves that we were going to have a weekend that no one would soon forget. Day after day it was looking more and more like Hurricane Irene was going to bear down on Southern Delaware right at prime time on Saturday. Kari and Greg handled it like champs! They barely said a word about the rough situation and just soaked it all in (no pun intended). It was pretty incredible to watch, both inside and outside. The roads were almost impassible and the electricity was intermittent, but the show went on.

We got out of there just in time. We drove over a bridge that closed at 8 at 7:58 and eventually made it home safe. It was a day we won't forget anytime soon. Kari and Greg, you guys were the perfect people to experience a day like that with. Your calmness and joy really shined despite the circumstances. Thanks for being so great!

  1. WOW they will never forget all that went into their day and the details of it. What a story to tell for years to come. You did a great job despite the horrible weather conditions. Glad you were all safe!

  2. Wow… you got some great stuff! Too many favorites to name, including the bride in front of the floral wallpaper, the bride and groom side by side in front of windows and draperies, and the umbrella one.

Jaime & Mike at the Patio at Archmere

As our 2010 wedding season finishes up, it's fun to think through all the people we've been able to shoot for this year. And out of all the weddings, this might have been the most stress free day we had all year! We had a wonderful time with Jaime and Mike when we shot for them a few months ago, and were excited to see just how beautiful their wedding was...and it certainly was (even if we missed having their dog Mango there).

They had some of the coolest looking venues, a really nice group of people, and the only above 40 degree day in forever! We hope you enjoy these as much as we did taking them...

  1. I can’t figure out what’s going on in that picture by the fountain. It looks like water is literally pouring out from the guy’s head!

PS: Always like your great group shot posing.

  2. dizzy reed

very difficult to manage the light’s temperatures in this wedding i think, isn’t? :) btw, good job as usual!!

  3. Love the mustache and fountain pics!

  4. Great post. I just recently found your blog, and these images from Archmere bring back many memories. I’ve been away from the region for a long time, but having gone to school there, your images take me right back to school socials at the Patio. Only, you make it looks about 10x more elegant than I remember!

  5. so awesome, love that first portrait of the bride with all the negative space

  6. Hello, Amazingggg shots from that wedding. I like the last one the best because it’s always nice to see who is producing this work. Is that a sigma ex lens? If yes how do you like them? I’m a canon shooter looking into some sigma glass. what’s your setup and are most of these through sigmas? If so, I’m converted!

  7. Hey Elliot, Amy’s using the Sigma 50 in that shot. I also use the 85 1.4. They’re great lenses, both better than the Canon 1.2 offerings in my humble opinion.

  8. Great post. I just recently found your blog, and these images from Archmere bring back many memories. 9. Geez Hoffer, your CEREMONY shots are better than most other photographers’ PORTRAITS…

Adrienne and Dustin at Baywood Greens

Ok, time to make a post I've been waiting for a long time. As self-employed people, Amy and I don't really have coworkers. So you can imagine how happy it makes us when we get to become friends with people we shoot for. I hate to pick favorites, but we've just had so much fun working with Adrienne and Dustin over the past year or so, that it was a little bit sad leaving their wedding knowing we don't have any other plans to shoot for them in the future. We've shot for them 5 times since they booked us (Engagement, HoffShop, Christmas, Bridals and now the wedding). So, thanks Adrienne and Dustin for being so great to us, for having great family and friends and for letting us in your lives for a while...

By the way, I lied yesterday. I'm going to hold off on blogging everyday this week. Gonna give it some time to let some photos breathe a bit :)

We could not have asked for better photographers for such a special day in our lives!!! We have really loved working with you guys, and building the friendship we have! It’s funny, I just said the same thing to Dustin today that it is sad that the wedding is over because it was so much fun having you guys in our lives for the last year and a half! You guys are awesome people, and amazing photographers! Thank you! Can’t wait to see the rest of the pics! Love, Adrienne & Dustin
