When one of my friends asked me about participating in a workshop with her in North Carolina, my initial reaction was lots of excitement. Then, when I found out who else was going to be there, I got a straight up giddy. Besides being my friends, these folks are some of the best photographers I know about. If you've followed this blog for any period of time, you probably know about them too. My good friend Evan Baines is a master of lighting, posing and for that matter, reading. Sam Hassas is who Amy and I picked to do our portraits not too long ago (There's not much more of a compliment I can give than hiring him myself). Melanie & Jeff Mansfield run one of the coolest studios you'll ever see and bring a lot of edge to traditional southern photography through their great work with all kinds of brides.

Hopefully all you blog-stalkers know that I'm shooting you straight when I say that I am crazy excited for these 3 days in September. Each person will be teaching on their individual areas of expertise, whether that be lighting, composition, shot selection, posing, ect. On top of that, we'll be splitting up groups, so that each attendee will have plenty of time with each instructor. We sincerely want this to be more than just a motivational speaking vacation. We're maximizing the learning opportunities and trying to give the most individual attention possible. Even though I'll be instructing, part of me just wants to sit and learn from these folks.
